So, a lot has happened: Roadtrip

We left Seattle at the end of March. It was pretty heartbreaking, but we looked forward to seeing Megan and Moe in Portland. We saw their new apartment and had a wonderful lunch and walk with them. It was short but sweet–we love our time with Megmo (is that a good nickname?).

The girls loved the pink portfolios full of activities that the Seevers gave them. They really came in handy. I also gave the girls gifts maybe once a day as needed. Our days started out with continental breakfast (usually waffles), three hours of driving, lunch and maybe an activity, then four hours of driving while Marf napped. Then we’d stop at a hotel, Paul would take the girls swimming and then we would eat dinner.

We stopped in Hermiston, OR; Twin Falls, ID (saw Minidoka camp); Rock Springs, WY (stopped at the Ogden dinosaur park); Denver, CO (saw the Coffeys and Bailesses); Colby, KS; Columbia, MO; and Indianapolis, IN (Easter).

I think it ended up working really well staying at Gret’s midway. Hanging out with Savy and Eoin was so refreshing after four days of driving. And staying in a house, eating normal food, and playing in a backyard, was a nice break from the hotels.

One of my favorite parts was getting some frozen yogurt in Colby KS. The girls were in their pajamas, and we drive around the corner. It was such a treat!

One of my least favorite parts was when Marf fell in the pool at Columbia MO. She was okay, but I did a ton of research on dry drowning.

Toshi got a kick out of Mad Libs. Marf wanted to listen to sleepy time Curious George nonstop. I ate a lot of Jr. Mints, and Paul got a stare-down from a cop.

The weather was great, and other than almost running out of gas one time and being packed like sardines, it was a smooth trip.

(Sorry I can’t get my carousel gallery to work. I’m doing it a different way that is less work on my part. Although I did do this mainly from my iPhone, painstakingly inserting and scaling each image, so I should probably get mad props.)
